Ylenia Baglietto: 'The actor's job is to search within'

NATXO VELEZ | EITB.EUS, 9 de Junio 2016

On 10 and 11 June, the Glu Glu company performed the comedy “De cuerpo presente” at the BBK Hall in Bilbao. We have spoken with Ylenia Baglietto, actress of the cast.

At the time of the final farewell, everything is usually flowers for the deceased, whether they are real, strung in crowns, or metaphorical. And it is that once the threshold of death has been crossed, the balance between what is sown day by day during a life and what we collect when it expires tends to be broken tending to idealization, at least in the mouth of the watchmen:? The best always leave ?,? There was no one like him ?? We love happy endings, and, surely, the deceased will go to the other neighborhood with the conviction that his departure leaves echoes of recognition and gratitude.

But this is not always the case, and Vicente Jiménez, the protagonist of the work De cuerpo presente, written by Gorka Aginagalde and Galder Perez and directed by the latter, will verify this by enjoying the dubious privilege of attending his own wake. There you will see the confrontation between his ex-wife, his son, his sister and his current wife in search of an inheritance, his, which really is much less than they think.

This meeting in the mud of characters that orbit around the deceased will offer more than a surprise to the viewer during the performance of the comedy, which can be seen on June 10 and 11 at the BBK Hall in Bilbao. We have spoken with Ylenia Baglietto, who plays the wife of the deceased, about? De cuerpo presente ?, her imminent foray into the work of theatrical director or the Ercila award for best revelation actress that she received last February.

Full-bodied, he returns to the stage a few months after completing the first leg of the tour. How has your reunion with the character of Rosita Monroe been?

I have taken it with desire. She is a character for whom I feel attached, since, having made a long enough tour, I have had time to grow attached to her. Also, I love that these representations are going to be in Bilbao, because my family and my friends will be able to come. Sometimes, when we act in towns for example, it is more difficult for them to move, but this time I will have them with me.

The work speaks of death, but in a comic record?

Yes, we want people to laugh and enjoy; theater is for that. The objective of the Glu Glu company is to provoke the laughter of the public and that they can forget their problems.

For example, in "De cuerpo presente" We turn to the traditional way of facing death. It is usually seen from a sad, bitter perspective, but we look at it from a comic perspective.

Therefore, the main objective is the smile of the spectators?

Yes, above all it is that: look for a laugh, have a nice time. In history, there will also be those who identify with the plot of inheritance and that fight to get loot, since it occurs in many families, but our main objective is humor

I'm having a lot of luck

On the other hand, in February you were awarded the Ercilla Award for Best New Actress for your portrayal of Nina in Chekhov's "The Seagull", a role radically different from the one that takes you this weekend to the BBK Room. How does an actress live those record changes?

I think an actor's job is to search within. Sometimes, as in the case of Chekhov's works, one must look in drama, and others in comedy. The director of "La Gaviota ", Gustavo Tambascio, and my castmates were of great help in creating the character.

I am very happy to have all these different opportunities. Some actors are pigeonholed in a record, while I am having a lot of luck, making characters very different from each other. It is a great opportunity to learn.

How was the award ceremony?

You never expect something like that. You do your job the best you can, but you never think about awards.

Anyway, was it very exciting, was I surrounded by my family and friends? I was very nervous because I wanted to say everything I had prepared (I finally got it), and I even cried. I am very grateful to have received it.

And now, in case you didn't have enough with the actress job, have you also started directing the theater?

Yes, it is the first time. The work we are preparing is called My Last Unstable Night, and its protagonist is Izaskun Fernández. It is a musical comedy monologue, which also has some dramatic flair. There will be live music: piano and guitar.

We premiered it this Friday, June 10, at 9:00 pm in Pavilion 6 in Bilbao.

So this weekend you will have to double in Bilbao with "De cuerpo presente" in the BBK Room and "My last shaky night" in Hall 6

Yes! I will have to run from one side to another!

After having worked in cinema (Tres mentiras, Ocho catalanes), theater (La Gaviota, La viuda alegre, Cabaret Chihuaha) and television (Goenkale), which of the three media would you choose?

I can not choose! I'll stay with everyone! An actress has to do everything, and fortunately I have been able to work in all three media. I can't keep any of them, because something is taken out of each one.

And now, what are you up to?

With Glu Glu we are preparing a musical for children that will be titled "Mari Kixkur" and next season we will also have the comedy "Deoxyribonucleico".

In addition, in summer I will shoot a film with the Bilbao producer Blogmedia, "The fig tree of the bastards". It is directed by Ana Murugarren and based on the work of Ramiro Pinilla.

To finish, please choose?

A play that has caught your attention lately: I saw? The call? in Madrid, and I really liked it.

A movie: Cabaret.

An actor: I will say two, Marion Cotillard and Javier Bardem.

A film director: Woody Allen.

Your favorite theater: El Arriaga.
