Ylenia Baglietto (Eibar, 1986) lleva una temporada de lujo en cuanto a trabajo se refiere. En pleno confinamiento estuvo ocupada con 'Etxekoak', una vuelta de tuerca convirtió a este serial en 'Etxekoak udan'
Positiva y con un claro objetivo, vivir de su sueño de ser actriz, tiene una agenda muy completa de cara al otoño: un personaje secundario en García y García, la película de Ana Murugarren; el musical Yo, la peor del mundo y una serie internacional de la que no le permiten contar nada. Actualmente está en Etxekoak udan. Ha terminado en La 1 su paso por Acacias 38 y ha hecho un spin off sobre su personaje de Maite Zaldua en formato podcast. Hasta los 17 se dedicó a la gimnasia rítmica, consiguiendo tres veces el título de campeona de España. Pasado este ciclo, volcó su energía en la interpretación.
Muchos años en el oficio de actriz, y haciendo todo lo que le echen.
—Ja, ja, ja. Es verdad. Once años cumpliendo el sueño que tenía de vivir de esta profesión. Canto, bailo, interpreto y hago de todo; como tú dices, lo que me echen. Hago cine, tele, teatro y todo lo que sale.
Sin embargo, durante un tiempo fue una campeona en gimnasia rítmica.
—Hice gimnasia durante trece años, y pienso que fue una disciplina que me ayudó a dedicarme a lo que me dedico. Imagínate, desde pequeña preparando ejercicios, montaje y coordinando los movimientos para luego mostrárselo a una juez o a un público que después me aplaudía. Así que a los 17 años, cuando dejé la gimnasia, me dije: ¿Y ahora qué hago yo sin aplausos?
¿Ego?
—Ja, ja, ja. No sé. Pero sí, mi ego se vino arriba y me dijo: ¡Cómo! Esto no se puede acabar aquí. Tú tienes que seguir preparando cosas para que te sigan aplaudiendo. De ahí creo que me vino la vena artística de seguir formándome, de hacer teatro y de meterme en este mundo. Llevo en el mundo artístico desde bien pequeñita, hacer gimnasia rítmica es arte de alguna manera.
¿Por qué dejó a los 17 años esta disciplina?
—Porque me planteé hasta dónde podía llegar con la gimnasia. A esa edad había sido campeona de España tres veces, había hecho pruebas para la selección española y no me habían cogido. Entonces valoré y dije: ¿Qué quiero a partir de aquí? Tenía muy claro que quería estudiar Arte Dramático. Me fui un año a Irlanda a aprender inglés y cambiar el chip. Después me volqué en prepararme y me dediqué a fondo a mi carrera como actriz.
¿Considera que le ha ido bien la vida como actriz?
—Absolutamente. Pienso que a la gente le va bien la vida, nos va bien la vida, cuando tienes actitud. Soy una persona muy positiva y, aunque me ocurran cosas, siempre tiendo a levantarme y seguir hacia delante. Seguramente es lo que ha hecho que las cosas me vayan mejor. A esto tienes que sumar el ser persistente, trabajar, darlo todo y tener muy claro el objetivo.
Cine, televisión, teatro, musicales€ ¿Le falta algo por hacer?
—Espero que sí. He hecho hasta una radionovela y eso no estaba en mi lista. Ha sido toda una experiencia.
¿Difícil?
—Fácil no ha sido. Tenías que coger el punto para conseguir las emociones que consigues con la voz más la imagen. Aquí solo tenía un elemento, la voz. Siempre surgen cosas nuevas y cuando te salen al camino, vas y dices: ¡Ostras! Esto también me faltaba por hacer. Yo estoy abierta y no me niego a nada. ¿Sabes lo que me encanta de la vida? Que siempre continúas haciendo cosas por primera vez.
Las radionovelas parecen antiguas, más de la época de nuestras abuelas.
—Cierto. Cuando hablas de radionovela la gente joven te pregunta qué es. Pero ahora con todo esto del podcast, está de moda, se vuelven a contar historias a través de la radio. Lo que yo he hecho ha sido una historia salida de la trama de una telenovela, Acacias 38. Sonará a antiguo, pero al final todas las modas vuelven.
¿Cómo se ha recibido el podcast de 'Acacias 38'?
—Está teniendo mucho éxito. El primer capítulo lleva como tres semanas y tiene más de 100.000 visitas. Volver a los orígenes de las cosas no está nada mal.
¿No le extrañó la propuesta?
—Soy de las que me lanzo a la piscina, y después me doy cuenta de que me he mojado. Soy de las que digo mucho tiempo después eso de: Ay, ama, qué he hecho. Pero ya estoy dentro. Cuando me lo propuso mi representante, no terminé de entender muy qué íbamos a hacer. Pero solo el hecho de que fuera para TVE y con el equipo de Acacias 38, me daba tal seguridad que aposté a ciegas por el proyecto y creo que no me he equivocado.
¿Tiene algo que ver con su personaje de esta serie, con Maite Zaldúa?
—Tiene cosas. Maite se enfrenta a la vida de una manera muy echada para delante, tiene una manera de vivir muy libre. Ella se expresa a través de la pintura y yo a través del Arte Dramático. Igual que yo, ella lucha hasta el final por lo que quiere. Pero tengo que reconocer que a Ylenia hay veces que le entra el miedo, a Maite no. Ella defiende todo hasta el final, sabiendo incluso que pueden encarcelarla, que es lo que le pasó.
En 'Acacias 38', Maite mantiene una relación homosexual con Camino. Algo difícil de entender para la sociedad de principios del siglo pasado.
—Es una trama valiente. Ellas tienen que llevar una relación en secreto porque en aquella época no se entendían, tampoco se toleraban, ese tipo de relaciones. La madre de Camino no deja que viva un amor libre. Maite es encarcelada y Camino se casa con un hombre para que mi personaje salga en libertad y también para poder sobrevivir. Esa época no es comparable con la de hoy en día.
En algunos países la diversidad sexual no es una opción.
—En muchos países del mundo la homosexualidad es una condena a muerte. Aún nos queda mucho trabajo por hacer.
Hablo de hoy en día. ¿Cree que se ve con peores ojos la homosexualidad femenina que la masculina?
—Pienso que no dejamos de vivir en una sociedad machista. A pesar de que pensamos que estamos evolucionados respecto a otras épocas, aún faltan muchas cosas por hacer en este sentido. Hay que luchar para que todo el mundo pueda vivir un amor libre y pleno.
Volvemos a encender otra vez la tele, pero esta vez, ETB. ¿Qué supuso para usted hacer 'Etxekoak'?
—Un regalazo. No me esperaba para nada poder trabajar estando confinada. Jamás me imaginé que iba a poder trabajar desde casa. Quién iba a pensar que iba a hacer una serie con un trípode y un móvil. Quitando trabajo al equipo técnico. Cuando todo terminó y nos encargaron Etxekoak udan fue otro plus. Pero esta vez sin robar el trabajo a nadie porque estamos teniendo equipo, exteriores y todo lo que un proyecto audiovisual necesita.
Comparte profesión con su pareja, Lander Otaola. ¿Resulta difícil la convivencia entre dos personas con oficios como actor y actriz?
—No es que sea difícil, es lo más maravilloso que tenemos. Nos entendemos, compartimos la pasión por el arte. Nuestros hobbies también son nuestra profesión: ir al cine, ir al teatro... Nos gusta crear proyectos juntos, nos encanta hacer cortos y somos dos personas muy activas. No dejamos de crear: cuando uno tiene la idea, el otro la desarrolla y viceversa. Siempre estamos remando a favor. Aunque nos toque estar muchos momentos separados, otros muchos estamos juntos. Sabemos hasta echarnos de menos.
¿También les gusta estar en los mismos proyectos?
—Los disfrutamos mucho. De la misma forma que yo disfruto cuando hago algo al margen de Lander, y a él le pasa lo mismo, gozamos de los proyectos en los que coincidimos. Pienso que tener la misma profesión nos viene bien, nos ayudamos mucho. Creo que Lander y yo somos un gran equipo cuando estamos juntos.
Ya, pero eso de estar siempre hablando de trabajo...
—Noooo. Tenemos muchas amistades que no tienen nada que ver con la profesión y eso es aire fresco porque no tienen nada que ver con lo que hacemos. Es cierto que todas las aficiones acabas vinculándolas a tu profesión, pero no nos cansa, en el fondo es una forma de vida.
¿Proyectos de cara al otoño?
—Tengo una peli, la que está rodando Ana Murugarren. Con ella como directora he trabajado mucho. Me llamó para esta historia, García y García. Está protagonizada por Pepe Viyuela y José Mota. Tengo un papel secundario que comenzaré a rodar en septiembre. Acabo de estrenar un musical, Yo, la peor del mundo. Es sobre Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, una mujer a la que metieron monja por ser lesbiana. Me estrené en el Festival de Teatro de Olite. Con esta obra comenzaré una gira. También tengo una serie internacional de la que no te puedo contar nada más.
Ylenia Baglietto: "We must fight so that everyone can live a free and full love"

Ylenia Baglietto (Eibar, 1986) has had a luxurious season in terms of work. In full confinement she was busy with 'Etxekoak', a twist turned this serial into 'Etxekoak udan'
Positive and with a clear objective, to live from her dream of being an actress, she has a very complete agenda for the autumn: a secondary character in García y García, Ana Murugarren's film; the musical Yo, La peor del mundo and an international series that she is not allow to tell anything. She is currently at Etxekoak udan. She has finished in La 1 her passage through Acacias 38 and has made a spin off on her character of Maite Zaldua in podcast format. Until she was 17 she devoted herself to rhythmic gymnastics, winning the title of champion of Spain three times. After this cycle, she turned her energy into acting.
She has been an actress for many years doing everything they throw at her.
—Ha ha ha It's true.Eleven years fulfilling the dream I had of living in this profession. I sing, dance, interpret and do everything; as you say, whatever they throw at me. I do cinema, TV, theater and everything that comes out.
However, for a time she was a champion in rhythmic gymnastics.
—I did gymnastics for thirteen years, and I think it was a discipline that helped me dedicate myself to what I do now. Imagine, from a young age preparing exercises, assembling and coordinating the movements and then showing it to a judge or an audience who later applauded me. So when I was 17, when I left gymnastics, I said to myself: Now what do I do without applause?
¿Ego?
—Ha ha ha I don't know. But yes, my ego went up and said: How! This cannot end here. You have to keep preparing things so that they keep applauding you. From there I think the artistic streak came to me to continue training, to do theater and to get into this world. I've been in the art world since I was little, doing rhythmic gymnastics is art in some way.
Why did you leave this discipline at 17?
—Because I wondered how far I could go with gymnastics. At that age I had been champion of Spain three times, I had tried out for the Spanish team and they had not caught me. Then I valued and said: What do I want from here? I was very clear that I wanted to study Dramatic Art. I went to Ireland for a year to learn English and change the chip. Then I went out of my way to prepare and devoted myself thoroughly to my acting career.
Do you think your life as an actress has gone well for you?
—Absolutely. I think that life goes well for people, life is good for us, when you have an attitude. I am a very positive person and, even though things happen to me, I always tend to get up and move on. It's probably what has made things go better for me. To this you have to add being persistent, hard worker, giving everything and having a very clear objective.
Cinema, television, theater, musicals ¿are you missing something else to do?
—Hope so. I have even done a radio soap opera and that was not on my list. It has been an experience.
Has it been hard?
—It wasn't easy." You had to take the point to get the emotions that you get with the voice plus the image. Here I only had one element, the voice. New things always come up and when you hit the road, you go and say: Ostras! This too I still had to do. I am open and I do not refuse anything. Do you know what I love about life? That you always continue to do things for the first time.
Radio soap operas seem old, more from the time of our grandmothers.
—True. When you talk about a radio soap opera, young people ask you what it is. But now with all this podcasting, it's in fashion, stories are being told again on the radio. What I have done has been a story out of the plot of a soap opera, Acacias 38. It will sound old, but in the end all fashions return.
How has the 'Acacias 38' podcast been received?
—It's having a lot of success." The first episode has about three weeks and has over 100,000 views. Going back to the origins of things is not bad at all.
Did the proposal surprise you?
—I'm one of those who jump into the pool, and then I realize I've gotten wet." I am one of those who say a long time after that: “Ay, ama”, what have I done? But I'm already inside. When my representative proposed it to me, I didn't quite understand what we were going to do. But just the fact that it was for TVE and with the Acacias 38 team, gave me such security that I bet blindly on the project and I think I have not been wrong.
Does it have something to do with your character in this series, with Maite Zaldúa?
—She has things." Maite faces life in a very forward way, she has a very free way of living. She expresses herself through painting and I through Dramatic Art. Like me, she fights to the end for what she wants. But I have to admit that there are times when Ylenia gets scared, Maite doesn't. She defends everything to the end, even knowing that they can imprison her, which is what happened to her.
In 'Acacias 38', Maite maintains a homosexual relationship with Camino. Something difficult to understand for the society of the beginning of the last century.
—It's a brave plot." They have to have a relationship in secret because at that time they did not understand, nor were they tolerated, that type of relationship. Camino's mother does not let her live a free love. Maite is imprisoned and Camino marries a man so that my character can go free and also to survive. That era is not comparable to today.
In some countries sexual diversity is not an option.
—In many countries of the world homosexuality is a death sentence. We still have a lot of work to do.
I'm talking about today. Do you think female homosexuality is viewed with worse eyes than male homosexuality?
—I think we don't stop living in a macho society. Despite the fact that we think that we are evolved compared to other times, there is still much to do in this matter. We must fight so that everyone can live a free and full love.
We turn on the TV again, but this time, ETB. What did doing 'Etxekoak' mean to you?
—A huge gift. I did not expect at all to be able to work while confined. I never imagined that I would be able to work from home. Who would have thought that I would make a series with a tripod and a mobile. Taking work away from the technical team. When it was all over and we were commissioned to Etxekoak udan it was another plus. But this time without stealing anyone's work because we are having equipment, exteriors and everything that an audiovisual project needs.
She shares a profession with her partner, Lander Otaola. Is coexistence between two people with trades like actor and actress difficult?
—It's not that it's difficult, it's the most wonderful thing we have." We understand each other, we share the passion for art. Our hobbies are also our profession: going to the movies, going to the theater ... We like creating projects together, we love making shorts and we are two very active people. We do not stop creating: when one has the idea, the other develops it and vice versa. We are always rowing in favor. Although we have to be many moments apart, many others we are together. We even know how to miss each other.
Do you also like to be in the same projects?
—We enjoyed them very much." In the same way that I enjoy when I do something outside of Lander, and the same thing happens to him, we enjoy the projects in which we coincide. I think that having the same profession is good for us, we help each other a lot. I think Lander and I are a great team when we are together.
Yes, but always talking about work...
—Noooo. We have many friends that have nothing to do with the profession and that is fresh air because they have nothing to do with what we do. It is true that you end up linking all hobbies to your profession, but it does not tire us, deep down it is a way of life.
Projects for the fall?
—I have a movie, the one Ana Murugarren is shooting. I have worked a lot with her as director. She called me for this story, Garcia and Garcia. It stars Pepe Viyuela and José Mota. I have a supporting role that I will start shooting in September. I just premiere musical, Yo, la peor del mundo. It is about Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, a woman who was put turn into a nun for being a lesbian. I premiered at the Olite Theater Festival. With this work I will start a tour. I also have an international series that I can't tell you about anything else.
