En el día internacional de la discapacidad, Fekoor, que celebra a mediodía un acto 'online', reclama más ayudas para equiparar la situación de sus socios a las de la población general
A la puerta de muchos colegios vizcaínos, esta mañana sonaba el ya clásico 'Ahoa bizi, Belarriak prest!' de Pirritx, Porrotx eta Marimotots para celebrar el Día del Euskera. Con esa banda sonora, también accedían a los centros decenas de niños en sillas de ruedas. Lo hacen todos los días, pero hoy, esa acción, la de llevar una vida lo más normal posible, es motivo de reivindicación. Porque, al margen de que sea la jornada a favor de la lengua vasca, el 3 de diciembre es el Día Internacional de las Personas con Discapacidad. La pandemia impedirá a la plataforma Fekoor celebrar su tradicional acto reivindicativo en El Arenal, que se trasladará -a partir de mediodía- a su canal de YouTube. No poder estar en la calle, sin embargo, no limitará su mensaje: «Si puedo elegir, moveré el mundo».
Esa «adaptación de una frase del filósofo Arquímedes», ha explicado Juan Carlos Sola, director del colectivo que agrupa a personas con diversidad funcional y a sus familias en Bizkaia, es el lema en un año en el que quieren transmitir «la aspiración de la discapacidad vizcaína» de desarrollar propio «modelo de vida» en «igualdad de condiciones con los demás» y que, cada persona, pueda «elegir dónde, cómo y con quién vivir». En ese sentido, ha hecho hincapié en que es necesario, para crear una sociedad «más justa, accesible, inclusiva y solidaria», que quienes tengan algún problema de movilidad puedan continuar en su casa, «sin vernos obligados a vivir en un sistema asistencialista y residencial».
Para permanecer en su entorno, ha subrayado, «las instituciones deben dotarnos de recursos y apoyos suficientes que nos permitan disponer de una asistencia personal», así como facilitar el acceso a «ayudas técnicas que garanticen nuestra autonomía». Porque, sin «una vivienda accesible, una educación inclusiva, un ocio sin discriminaciones...», no tendrán la oportunidad de decidir cómo vivir.
Premio a la Peña Denon Athletic
En ese sentido, Mari Jose Peña, integrante de Fekoor, lamenta que las ayudas técnicas «no son suficientes, y por eso la gente tiene que ir a residencias, a casas de familiares...». Hace la denuncia en una conversación con la monologuista Gemma Martínez, uno de los tres diálogos -los otros dos los protagonizan la periodista Reyes Prados y Mariano Díaz; y la actriz Ylenia Baglietto y Lexuri Badiola- difundidos por la federación para visibilizar la realidad de las personas con discapacidad.
Respecto al acto que comienza a mediodía, además de los mensajes de apoyo de personas del mundo de la cultura como la clown Virginia Imaz, el actor Lander Otaola, la periodista radiofónica Miriam Duque y la influencer Carmen Esperanza, quienes se conecten podrán ver la entrega del Premio Vida Independiente que cada año concede la organización. En esta ocasión, el galardón recae en la Peña Denon Athletic, «una peña inclusiva, formada por personas con discapacidad, y que es la primera de estas características en todo el Estado», ha detallado Sola. También se retransmitirá el homenaje a Begoña Sánchez, una de las fundadoras de Fekoor y quien falleció en agosto; una de esas personas que, como sus compañeros, estaba convencida de que, «si nos facilitan apoyos suficientes, moveremos el mundo».

On the doorstep of many schools in Bizkaia this morning the already classic 'Ahoa bizi, Belarriak prest!' by Pirritx, Porrotx eta Marimotots was played to celebrate Basque Language Day. They do so every day, but today this action, that of leading as normal a life as possible, is a reason for making demands. Because, apart from the fact that it is the day in favour of the Basque language, 3 December is the International Day of the Disabled. The pandemic will prevent the Fekoor platform from holding its traditional claiming event in El Arenal, which will be moved - from midday onwards - to its YouTube channel. Not being able to be on the streets, however, will not limit its message: "If I can choose, I will move the world".
This "adaptation of a phrase from the philosopher Archimedes", explained Juan Carlos Sola, director of the group that brings together people with functional diversity and their families in Bizkaia, is the motto for a year in which they want to transmit "the aspiration of the Biscayan disabled" to develop their own "life model" on "equal terms with others" and that each person can "choose where, how and with whom to live". In this sense, he stressed that it is necessary, in order to create a "fairer, more accessible, inclusive and supportive" society, that those who have a mobility problem can continue to live at home, "without being forced to live in a welfare and residential system".
To remain in their environment, he stressed, "the institutions must provide us with sufficient resources and support to enable us to have personal assistance", as well as facilitating access to "technical aids that guarantee our autonomy". Because, without "accessible housing, inclusive education, leisure without discrimination ...", they will not have the opportunity to decide how to live.
Denon Athletic Club Award
In this sense, Mari Jose Peña, member of Fekoor, regrets that the technical aids "are not enough, and that is why people have to go to residences, to relatives' houses... She makes the denunciation in a conversation with the monologue Gemma Martínez, one of the three dialogues - the other two are led by the journalist Reyes Prados and Mariano Díaz; and the actress Ylenia Baglietto and Lexuri Badiola - spread by the federation to make visible the reality of people with disabilities.
Regarding the event that begins at midday, in addition to the messages of support from people from the world of culture such as clown Virginia Imaz, actor Lander Otaola, radio journalist Miriam Duque and influencer Carmen Esperanza, those who connect will be able to see the presentation of the Independent Living Award that the organization grants every year. On this occasion, the award goes to the Peña Denon Athletic, "an inclusive club, made up of people with disabilities, and which is the first of its kind in the whole of Spain", Sola explained. The tribute to Begoña Sánchez, one of the founders of Fekoor and who died in August, will also be broadcast; one of those people who, like her colleagues, was convinced that "if they provide us with sufficient support, we will move the world".
